Wilson Tobs News Release

WILSON, N.C. - Ben Fish accounted for all four runs for the Wilson Tobs on Tuesday night at Historic Fleming Stadium as they handed the Edenton Steamers their first loss of the season.

Wilson (5-8) took the first lead of the game in the third frame as Fish walked to begin the inning and scored two batters later on a Geoff Jimenez single.

Edenton (9-1) knotted the score in the fifth inning when Koby Kraemer lofted a fly ball to right field which plated Spencer Branigan and even the score.

However, the Tobs responeded in the seventh when Fish doubled to start the inning and later crossed home on a Jimenez sacrifice fly and make it 2-1 Wilson.

In the eighth, the Tobacconists added a pair of insurance runs as Fish singled home a pair for the final 4-2 margin.

Meanwhile, Zeke McGranahan (W, 2-0) was unhittable tonight working seven innings without allowing a hit and giving up just the single unearned run giving the Tobs a great performance in their two-run victory.

The Tobs and Steamers will renew their season series tomorrow night at Hicks Field with first pitch slated for 7:05. Wilson makes its return to Fleming Stadium on Thursday night at 7:05 as the Peninsula Pilots return to Historic Fleming Stadium.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 51 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and CY Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
