November 6, 2018 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes' third-annual Winterfest will return to Avaya Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The holiday festival will feature 20 tons of snow and holiday-themed activities, including rotating performances, inflatable games and a craft fair. Canned goods are a suggested donation upon entry to the festival and will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
The two-acre 7UP Epicenter at Avaya Stadium will be transformed into a winter wonderland with decorations designed by Local Color San Jose, a local incubator for artists. With 20 tons of snow available for snowballs and snow angels, fans will have an opportunity to have a true winter experience and should arrive early to catch the snow before it melts or reserve a predetermined time here.
With many new additions to last year's festival, Winterfest will feature a variety of activities in addition to the snow, including giant inflatables, rotating holiday performances, a craft fair and several photo opportunities set up throughout the 7UP Epicenter.
San Jose Made, a local company that helps grow artisan culture and creative retail in the South Bay, will curate a selection of retail booths featuring local craft makers, artists and emerging brands for the craft fair. Attendees can shop local for the holidays and meet the creative minds behind the products on the spot.
For those who want to dress the part of a professional Earthquakes player, team-issued equipment will be sold on a first come, first served basis beginning at 10 a.m. at the Earthquakes Team Store, powered by Gyft. A limited amount of balls, cleats, jerseys, shorts and training gear will be for sale with all proceeds benefitting the Quakes Foundation. A merchandise sale will also take place at the team store with a special discount on all items.
General admission to Winterfest is free, and will grant access to the photo opportunities, craft fair and the performances. Festival goers can purchase a $25 wristband to play in the snow and on the inflatables, and can reserve specific time for the snow with this link. As in prior years, fans can purchase wristbands at the door when they arrive on Dec. 2. The option to purchase tickets and reserve times in advance is to help make lines for the activities more efficient.
Attendees will receive a Quakes-themed Elf on the Shelf for every three unlimited wristbands they purchase or $74 they spend at the equipment sale.
