First Place Red Bulls Look to Clinch Playoff Spot

HARRISON, NJ (October 4, 2013) - The Eastern Conference-leading New York Red Bulls will look to clinch their 10th MLS Cup Playoffs berth in 11 years on Saturday night when they host the New England Revolution in front of an expected sold out crowd at Red Bull Arena at 7:00 PM ET (TV: MSG; Radio ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM). The Red Bulls would book their ticket to the postseason with a win or a tie against the Revolution.

Due to the expected crowd, fans attending the match are encouraged to arrive at Red Bull Arena early. A very limited amount of tickets are still available to purchase by calling 1.877.RBSOCCER.

PREVIEW

- The Red Bulls (15-9-7, 52 pts.) currently enjoy a four-point lead atop the Eastern Conference over second place Sporting Kansas City heading into this weekend's action.

- New York is also in first place the MLS Supporters' Shield standings, one point ahead of Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders FC.

- New York is riding a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) following a 1-1 tie last Sunday against Seattle at CenturyLink Field. Midfielder Tim Cahill scored his ninth goal of the season in the 76th minute to give New York a hard-earned point.

- New England (11-11-8, 41 pts.) is in the mix to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2009. The Revolution is in a sixth place tie in the East, just one point shy of a postseason spot. It is coming off a 1-1 tie at home to the Houston Dynamo last Saturday.

- New York is 20-26-14 all-time against New England and 16-8-7 at home, including 4-0-0 at Red Bull Arena. In regular season play, the Red Bulls are 1-0-1 against the Revolution in 2013, winning 4-1 at Red Bull Arena on April 20 and tying 1-1 on May 11 at Gillette Stadium.
