Much is on the line for Whitecaps FC this weekend, both in terms of the club's quest for a second consecutive playoff appearance, as well as the team's pursuit of hoisting the Cascadia Cup. The "ÃËCaps currently sit in seventh place in the MLS Western Conference with 41 points, three points back of fourth place LA Galaxy and fifth place Colorado Rapids for the final two playoff spots. Vancouver are also second in the Cascadia Cup standings with five points, two points behind Seattle Sounders FC, while Portland are in third place with three points.
Following Sunday's match, Whitecaps FC play their final Cascadia Cup match of 2013 on Wednesday, October 9, in Seattle. Should the "ÃËCaps defeat both the Timbers and Sounders FC, they will capture a record fourth Cascadia Cup title.
To end the season, Vancouver play consecutive matches against Colorado Rapids, which may well decide the final playoff entrant. The first match will be on Saturday, October 19, at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Colorado before both teams conclude the regular season on Sunday, October 27, during Fan Appreciation Night at BC Place. The match will also see limited edition pink soccer balls used, while players will wear adidas breast cancer patches on their jerseys. Pink scarves will be available for sale on the concourse, with a portion of all proceeds being donated to the CBCF. You can also purchase a scarf now at whitecapsfcshop.com .
