
Fireworks Highlight Eight-Game Homestand

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Indianapolis Indians return to Victory Field Friday to open an eight-game homestand. The Buffalo Bisons and Pawtucket Red Sox, the top two teams in the International League North, will make their only visits to Victory Field this season for four games each.
The Bisons, who boast the top record in the IL, open the homestand on Friday. The Bisons are 18-9 thanks to the league's top pitching staff which has a 3.08 ERA. Starters Jason Phillips and Jason Stanford are tied for third in the circuit with 1.86 ERAs. Phillips leads the league with five wins.
Buffalo, the top affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, has made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Pawtucket, stands in second place in the IL North with a 16-11 mark. The Red Sox pace the league with 34 home runs including seven each by Julio Zuleta and Lou Collier.
The homestand features the first Fireworks Night of the season along with a Floppy Hat giveaway on Mother's Day.

Nurses Night / Budweiser Night - Friday at 7 pm vs. Buffalo Bisons
The homestand begins with recognition for some special nurses from central Indiana. The Indians will honor 22 nurses in a ceremony before the game courtesy of WXNT.
Two-for-one discount admission coupons are available at Budweiser retail locations, subject to availability.
Megan McManama, the 500 Festival Queen, will throw out a ceremonial pitch before the game.
Fireworks Night / Tiger Cub Graduation / Columbus Night - Saturday at 6 pm vs. Buffalo Bisons
The series with the Bisons continues with a bang Saturday. Fans will be treated to a spectacular fireworks show following the game. Saturday's fireworks show is the first of five Fireworks Nights scheduled for 2003.
Central Indiana Tiger Cubs will be honored before the game. All Tiger Cubs in attendance will participate in a pre-game "graduation" parade on the field.
Saturday is also Columbus Community Night.
Floppy Hat Day - Sunday at 2 pm vs. Buffalo Bisons
Gates open at 12:30 on Mother's Day and the first 4,000 fans will receive an Indians Floppy Hat courtesy of Meijer, Indianapolis Star, Pepsi and WFMS. Two-for-one admission coupons will run in The Star this week.
Every Sunday is a Shedd Spread Country Crock Family Funday allowing fans to purchase two tickets for the price of one with a Country Crock proof of purchase.
School Day - Monday at 12 pm vs. Buffalo Bisons
Over 75 schools will bring students to Victory Field for the annual School Day and second Baseball in Education Day at Victory Field on Monday. The kids will participate in a Drug Prevention Rally from 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
A choir from Broad Ripple High School will perform the National Anthem.
Indians vs. Pawtucket - Tuesday, May 13 at 7 pm
The Indians welcome Pawtucket to Victory Field Tuesday. Members of the Butler University basketball team, including all six seniors, will sign autographs for fans before the game.
Fans may purchase two tickets for the price of one with a proof of purchase from Advance Auto Parts or with a Marsh Fresh Idea Card.
Business Day Special - Wednesday, May 14 at 2 pm vs. Pawtucket Red Sox
The Indians and Paw Sox play under the sun Wednesday courtesy of WGLD.
Fans may purchase two tickets for the price of one with a Wisk Sport proof of purchase.
Radio Sponsors Night - Thursday, May 15 at 7 pm vs. Pawtucket Red Sox
The homestand and the series with Pawtucket continue Thursday. Two-for-one admission coupons are available from sponsors of the Indians radio broadcasts.
Insurance Night - Friday, May 16 at 7 pm vs. Pawtucket Red Sox
The Tribe wraps up the homestand Friday with Insurance Night. Two-for-one admission coupons are available from participating Indianapolis Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (IAIFA). Part of the activities will benefit the Indianapolis Boys & Girls Club, and 100 members will enjoy the game courtesy of IAIFA.
The interactive Colts Care-A-Van will be in the center field plaza, and Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy will throw out a ceremonial pitch before the game.
Also throwing out a ceremonial pitch will be Katie Geralds, a senior member of the Beech Grove High School girls basketball team that won the Class 4A state championship. The team will be recognized on the field before the game.
