Durham, NC- Jason Smith hit two home runs including a grand slam to lead the Durham Bulls to an 11-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls have taken two in a row from Rochester and are now 3-3 on the homestand.
Smith hit a two-out grand slam over the right field wall in the second inning then homered to lead off the fifth. Ryan Jackson smacked his third home run of the year later in the fifth inning. Jared Sandberg went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Jason Tyner went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
RHP Carlos Reyes (4-1) pitched six shutout innings to pick up the win. The International League ERA leader allowed two hits and struck out five while walking none.
Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 for Rochester with a double and a home run. RHP Adam Johnson (0-3) took the defeat after allowing eleven runs (earned) and ten hits over four and 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out four.
