Flint, Mich. - It was the second annual Firebirds Trick-or-Treat Night at the Dort Federal Event Center, but it was the Kingston Frontenacs that provided the nightmarish result as they out lasted the Flint Firebirds 5-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Robertson, Nathan Dunkley and Warren Foegele each contributed a goal and an assist to pace the Frontenacs, putting an end to the Firebirds' two game winning streak. Stephen Desrocher and Sergey Popov also scored once. Goaltender Jeremy Helvig was a big key for Kingston as he stopped 35 of 38 shots. Flint out shot Kingston 38-23.

Mathieu Henderson had a goal and an assist for the Firebirds and was selected as the second star for his effort. Also scoring for Flint was Ty Dellandrea and Ryan Moore, who netted his team leading 11^th goal. The goal also put him in a tie for the league lead, with the Sarnia Sting's Nikita Korostelev.

Connor Hicks played well in net for Flint and kept his club in the game with some timely saves, in the end he turned away 18 of 22 shots.

Flint held the early edge in play to open the game but Kingston broke through, scoring a pair of goals 23 seconds apart. Desrocher made quick work following a Flint penalty, scoring from just inside the blue line with a slap shot that found the back of the net at 12:03. Popov made it 2-0, scoring from in close at 12:26.

Flint got one back 50 seconds later with the man advantage, as Moore deflected home a shot from Mathieu Henderson from the left point. The goal was number 11 for Moore. Kirwan drew the second assist at 13:16. Flint outshot Kingston by a wide margin of 16-7 after one period but trailed 2-1.

Henderson pulled Flint even at 7:50 of the middle frame as he received a pass in the slot and made no mistake scoring his third goal of the season.

Kingston rallied in quick succession potting two goals to wrap up the second period scoring. Dunkley scored unassisted at 8:41 to put the Frontenacs back in front 3-2 and Robertson added to the lead with a goal from the side of the net after receiving a pass which Hicks had no chance on. The shots in the second period favored Kingston 8-7.

Flint pulled to within one, 4-3, as Ty Dellandrea tipped a shot from Jalen Smereck from the right point at 2:36. Clark also drew an assist.

Dellandrea had a golden chance at the midway point but his point blank shot from the slot was stopped and minutes later Hicks came up with a key save to keep the game close for the Firebirds.

With six minutes to play Flint was whistled for a tripping penalty but the Firebirds were able to kill it off after some stellar work from the PK unit. Flint had a power-play opportunity late in the game and had three quality chances but could not convert. The Frontenacs scored an empty net goal in the final minute to seal the deal.

The Flint Firebirds will travel for three games against Eastern Conference opponents next weekend with the first stop in Peterborough on Thursday. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The Firebirds will return home to the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint Saturday, Nov. 5 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
