Flint Firebirds News Release
The Flint Firebirds announced today that defenseman Tyler Deline has committed to continue his hockey career with the Acadia University Axeman hockey club (U-Sports) for the 2023-24 season.
It feels great," Deline said. "I'm really excited to continue playing on a strong team that has a lot of returning guys and good younger ones coming in like myself. It might take a while to adjust to a new rink, new fans, and new city but it's a task I'm excited for."
The Peterborough, Ont. native was selected by the Firebirds in the sixth round (#102 overall) back in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection. He made his Firebirds debut back on January 5, 2019, and also recorded his first career OHL point as well in a 5-1 win over Sudbury at the Dort Financial Center. Deline finished up his career in Flint producing 8 G and 29 A in 58 GP this season while finishing with a career-high +/- of +16.
"I have been fortunate enough to play in Flint since I was 16" Deline added. "I have had some great teammates and amazing billets during that time that are a family to me now. I want to say thank you to all the fans that have watched me since I was a rookie until now and let them know that in a few years, a Cup will be brought to Flint. The young group we have there is filled with skill and toughness and I can't wait to watch them next year. I will be back. FFF."
Deline heads to Acadia after spending his entire OHL career in a Firebirds uniform playing in 171 games and producing 15 G and 67 A. He leaves Flint ranking sixth among defensemen for career goals, fourth for career assists, and fourth for career points.
