Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced yesterday that the club has waived goaltender Kyle Knechtel and signed defenseman Bob Rapoza. Per club policy, financial terms of the signing were not disclosed.
Knechtel, who had played for the FireAntz since training camp of the 2007-08 season, compiled a 15-15-5 record during his stint with the FireAntz. The club is expected to sign a goaltender this week.
Rapoza, a 6'2, 225-pound defenseman from Fall River, Massachusetts joins the FireAntz after playing with the Wichita Thunder and Corpus Christi Icerays of the Central Hockey League (CHL) this season. He will fill the roster spot vacated by Ed Campbell, who was waived on Monday.
The FireAntz next home games are Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th. Friday is Cape Fear Eye Associates Night and one lucky fan will win a FireAntz jersey courtesy of Cape Fear Eye Associates. You won't want to miss the Hooters of Fayetteville swimwear contest. On Saturday, it's Beef O'Brady's St. Patrick's Night and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a team poster. There will also be a team autograph signing after the game and a jersey auction of the specialty Beef O'Brady's St. Patrick's Jersey. You won't want to miss either home game this weekend. Puck drops at 7:30, both nights, at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville.
