Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
Fayetteville FireAntz coach Tommy Stewart likes defenseman Craig Geerlinks so much that he went out and found a near-carbon copy.
Stewart announced Tuesday that Geerlinks will return to the team for the 2009-10 Southern Professional Hockey League season, and that Adam Spinarsky is coming aboard after spending his first pro season in Holland.
Geerlinks is one of the best stay-at-home defensemen in the league. Spinarsky's supposed to be his clone, Stewart said.
Geerlinks, 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, is entering his sixth pro season, and the 28-year-old has appeared in the playoffs every year. He scored 23 points in 72 games last season.
Like Geerlinks, Spinarsky is a native of Ontario. The 5-foot-11, 202-pounder will turn 26 next week. Playing for Eindhoven Kemphanen last year, Spinarsky scored 11 points in 36 games and racked up 101 penalty minutes.
