Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that FireAntz forward Rob Sich has been named the Sher-Wood Player of the week. It is his fourth such honor as a member of the FireAntz and second in a span of three weeks.
Sich, who is tied for second in the SPHL in scoring with Knoxville's Tim Vitek, has 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points on the season. This past weekend Sich helped pace the FireAntz to two wins in three games. He netted five goals and added two assists, for seven points, in the three games.
"Over the last month Rob has been firing on all cylinders, at both ends of the ice." Head Coach Tommy Stewart said, "He's becoming much more of a complete player. His hard work is paying off and he's putting a lot of pucks in the net."
He accomplished another impressive feat over the weekend as well. Sich became the FireAntz franchise leader with 166 career points, passing former teammate Tim Velemirovich who totaled 160 points in a FireAntz sweater. Sich accomplished the task in his 100th game with the club.
The FireAntz play two home games this week. On Thursday, January 22nd the FireAntz host the second place Huntsville Havoc. Saturday, January 24th the club will take on the SPHL-leading Knoxville Ice Bears. Group tickets are available from the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123.
