Cyclones Split Weekend
January 19, 2009 - SPHL (SPHL)
Twin City Cyclones News Release
The Twin City Cyclones had two games on the slate last week; Friday night in Fayetteville and Saturday in Richmond. Still battling both the FireAntz and the Renegades to ascend in the SPHL standings, the Cyclones were able to collect two points over the two games.
Friday vs. Fayetteville: This game saw the return of Josh Piro to the Cyclones' roster, as he would account for two of the Cyclones' five goals. Ben Manny, Donald Melnyk, and Marc Lefebvre added the remaining three goals, but Twin City was unable to keep the FireAntz at bay. Final score, 8-5.
Saturday vs. Richmond: The Cyclones were determined to end their recent skid and Ben Manny and Marc Lefebvre got Twin City off to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Richmond got on the board in the second to narrow the gap 2-1, but Steve Obelnicki added another for the 'Clones to put the score at 3-1. At 13:58 in the third, the Renegades threatened again, but Twin City was able to hold them off for a final score of 3-2. Kevin Druce recorded 39 saves against the 'Gades.
