FireAntz Goalie Chad Collins Named Player of the Week

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced this week that Fayetteville FireAntz goaltender Chad Collins has been named the inaugural winner of the Sherwood "Player of the Week" in the SPHL.

Collins, a 5'8'' 160 pound rookie from Guelph, Ontario was stellar in between the pipes for the FireAntz in this past weekend's 3-game weekend sweep.

On Friday, November 5th, Collins made his first professional start and was spectacular. He saved 41 of 43 shots in the FireAntz 4-2 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths.

On Saturday, November 6th Collins notched his first professional shutout, blocking all 26 shots he faced in a 3-0 win against the Macon Trax.

On Sunday, November 7th Collins closed out the weekend by getting his first professional road victory in a 3-1 win at Winston-Salem.

Head Coach Derek Booth said of Chad Collins, "Chad had an exceptional weekend and battled hard." Booth added, "I look for more of the same out of him the rest of the season."

Chad Collins numbers for the week: 3-0, stopped 99 of 102 shots, .971 SV%, 1.00 GAA, 1 shutout.
