Louisville Fire News Release

The last two weeks for the Louisville Fire have not been easy. Two weeks ago the Fire needed a hail mary off the net on the final play to beat then number one ranked Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and last week the Fire took a late lead against then number two Quad City and managed to hang on for a 62-61 victory. The Fire has now been rewarded for their victories with a number one ranking in the af2 Coaches' Poll for Week 11 (the entire poll is listed below).

The Fire edged out the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers by four points this week, including 12 first place votes. This is the first time the Fire has been ranked number one this season, and this is the seventh straight week a different team has been ranked number one. The Fire becomes the sixth team to be ranked number one this season.

The Fire will play two more teams this season that are ranked in this week's Coaches' Poll, Quad City (fifth) and Hawaii (twelfth). Last week's number one team, Birmingham, dropped to third in this week's poll.

The Fire will travel to Peoria, Illinois this Saturday to take on Midwest Division rival the Peoria Pirates. Kick-off is set for 8:00 pm and all of the action can be heard on 1080-AM WKJK.
