Fins Fall in See-Saw Contest

The Wilmington Sharks (19-15, 5-3) dropped a second straight as they fell to the Wilson Tobs in a game that saw four lead changes. Wilson's 7-4 win on Wednesday was their first win at Buck Hardee Field this season.

Wilmington scored in the first inning on Brett Smith's single and Alex Destino's RBI sacrifice fly to center field. Kyle Nowlin also singled in the inning, but he and Andy Austin would be stranded at the inning's end. Wilmington would end up stranding twelve Sharks on the night.

Wilson jumped out to a 3-1 advantage after plating one run in the third and two more in the fifth. Wilmington tied it up in the home half of the fifth, following five consecutive walks from three different pitchers capped off by an RBI single by Brett Smith. Smith and Nowlin were the only Sharks with multi-hit ballgames, while Nowlin and Matt Meeder had the only hits for extra bases.

Greg Mason and Cason Sherrod worked in relief for Wilson, holding the Sharks scoreless in their final four trips to the plate, allowing just a single hit. Greg Mason earns the win while Cason Sherrod earned the save, pitching the final four innings of Wednesday's contest. Kevin Boswick takes the loss for the Sharks.
