GASTONIA, N.C. - The Grizzlies exploded for nine runs in the seventh inning to bash Lexington County 12-8 Tuesday night at Sims Legion Park.
Ryan Whitt (King) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Taylor Allum (Kennesaw State) was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Brandon Donahue (Wingate) picked up the win (2-1) on the mound in relief, pitching 1.1 innings.
The Grizzlies (5-2, 22-13) travel to Forest City Wednesday before returning home Thursday against High Point-Thomasville.
Winners of the CPL West Division first-half championship, Gastonia clinched a postseason berth on July 29. The Petitt Cup playoffs begin Aug. 5 featuring the top eight teams in the league in best-of-three, first-round series with the higher seeds holding home-field advantage.
