Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that the field of finalists for the Miss Argo contest has been narrowed to five finalists. Voted on-line by thousands of Argo fans, Christina, Shannon K., Tiffany, Heather and Nicole have been named the final five. The Miss Argo contest was a staple in the Double Blue tradition of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and has been brought back for the 2006 season with a twist. As Toronto's #1 community team, the 2006 version of Miss Argo will be awarded to the Blue Thunder Cheerleader who best demonstrated an ongoing commitment to community activities both within the Argonauts organization and in her spare time.

Commented Blue Thunder Head Coach Mailie Harris, "Miss Argo is a wonderful way to recognize the work of one outstanding Toronto Argonauts Blue Thunder cheerleader. She will represent how committed the cheerleaders are to our team and our community. I anticipate that the newly-crowned Miss Argo will keep raising the standard of what we can expect from future Argonauts cheerleaders!"

The winner of Miss Argo will be determined by on-line votes. Fans can vote for their favourite at www.argonauts.ca/Argos/BlueThunder/MissArgoFinals.html. Miss Argo will be crowned at the September 30 home game vs. the Calgary Stampeders.

The Toronto Argonauts Blue Thunder Cheerleaders are one of North America's most exciting and established cheerleading teams. With 60 team members, they are also one of the largest squads.
