Final Home Stand Opens Wednesday

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Royals open their final home stand of 2008 on Wednesday, August 20th. The home stand, five games vs. Memphis followed by four contests vs. New Orleans, will feature Public Service Appreciation Day on Saturday, the 23rd and Fan Appreciation Day for the home finale on Thursday, the 28th. Here's a rundown of all the upcoming promotions:

Wednesday, August 20, 7:05 p.m.: KIDS EAT FREE! All kids 12-and-under will receive a voucher for a SUBWAY pizza and soda, or a meal voucher from the Royals. It's brought to you by SUBWAY, Star 104.5 and The Omaha Newspapers!

Thursday, August 21, 7:05 p.m.: It's Thirsty Thursday with $1 beer and Cokes during the game, courtesy of Dex Media, 96.1 The Brew, Action 3 News and The City Weekly!

Friday, August 22, 7:05 p.m.: It's Werner Enterprises fireworks! Plus, Tom Becka will be on hand signing copies of his new book There is No Business Without the Show. The night is also presented by 1110 KFAB, KETV and The City Weekly.

Saturday, August 23, 7:05 p.m.: It's Public Service Appreciation Day, presented by the U.S. Army and Woodmen of the World. Several FREE exhibits and displays, including a drunk-driving course, fire trucks, army vehicles and much more will be open at 4:00 p.m. in the Rosenblatt Stadium parking lot. Stadium gates also open at 4:00 p.m., with the Todd & Tyler Radio Empire Celebrity Softball game beginning at 5:00 p.m. Former Huskers Eric Crouch, Jason Peter and Rob Zatechka will play in the contest. Peter will also be signing copies of his New York Times Best-Seller, Hero of the Underground. Royals players will wear American-themed jerseys, with a silent auction of those autographed jerseys taking place during the game to raise money for a local military charity. The evening will be capped with the final Werner Enterprises fireworks show of the year. The night is also presented by Z-92, WOWT and The Reader!

Sunday, August 24, 1:35 p.m.: It's U.S. Bank Family FUNday, with clowns, face painting and kids invited to run the bases, also presented by KGBI-100.7 FM and KPTM-Fox 42. All Royals Kids Club members receive a FREE ticket to the game, courtesy of SUBWAY! Plus, any fan bringing an Our Family Brand food item to the stadium gets a FREE G.A. ticket!

Monday, August 25, 7:05 p.m.: The series opener vs. New Orleans features $1 hot dogs all night, courtesy of 89.7 The River and the Daily Nonpareil! Plus, all of the weekly winners of 89.7 The River's "Kids Who Rock" promotion will be honored.

Tuesday, August 26, 7:05 p.m.: It's $2 2uesday with $2 G.A. tickets and $2 medium Cokes, courtesy of Valpak, Z-92 and The Reader! The night also features "All-You-Can-Eat Seats": fans may purchase the plan for $20 through Monday, the 25th. It includes a G.A. ticket plus All-You-Can-Eat hot dogs, nachos, pretzels and cheese, Coke products and a specialty concessions item to be announced. Following the game, enjoy live music with The Whipkey Three, presented by Two Fine Irishmen!

Two presentations will be made as part of the season-long Hurl the Pearl promotion, presented by Nissan of Omaha and McDonald's. The proceeds from the promotion will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House and one of the nightly winners will be randomly drawn as the winner of a grand prize package, including two Omaha Royals 2009 season tickets!
