Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa- With preseason play beginning Sunday, the Dubuque Fighting Saints have released their Promotional Schedule for the 2013-2014 campaign, ensuring a season of fun will continue both on and off the ice this year at the Mystique Community Ice Center. The Fighting Saints will feature a different theme at all home games, providing fans a unique experience during all 32 home games during the preseason and regular season schedule.
The schedule features a mix of both new theme nights and returning favorites, as well as a number of popular giveaway items. Dubuque opens the 2013-2014 regular season on Saturday, September 28 at 7:05 p.m. versus Sioux City with Opening Night and a Championship Celebration presented by American Trust. The first 3,000 fans will receive a magnetic schedule, and the Fighting Saints will unveil the Anderson Cup and Clark Cup Championship banners and returning players will receive their championship rings in a pre-game ceremony.
The Fighting Saints will hold a celebration on Friday, October 11 versus Muskegon honoring the team's Bronze Medal win at the 2013 Junior Club World Cup in Russia. The celebration will be labeled as "Omsk, Sweet Omsk," and the evening will highlight the culture, language, and stories the Fighting Saints experienced while overseas.
The first 1,000 fans will receive a Bernie Fireman Bobblehead, presented by Dubuque Fire Equipment, on Friday, December 13 as the Fighting Saints take on Team USA. Fans can also score a Fighting Saints Gangster Fedora Hat at the Friday, March 7 game. Dubuque welcomes the Chicago Steel that evening for Al Capone Night, as the Fighting Saints give a nod to the former gangster who often hid from Chicago authorities in Dubuque.
New events planned for this season include American Gladiators night, Ron Burgandy Night, and a "Matt" Shawshank Redemption Night. This evening will honor the 20th anniversary of the classic movie, and tie in Dubuque's new Head Coach and General Manager Matt Shaw.
Another unique item included on the schedule is a night themed towards Tom Lippstock, a Fighting Saints season ticket holder. Lippstock won the honor during the Fighting Saints 25 Days of Heavenly Prizes contest last season, and because of this, "Tom Lippstock Night," will take place on Thursday, September 19 during the preseason game versus Cedar Rapids.
The Fighting Saints will wear special jerseys to help support great causes on at least three occasions during the upcoming season. The Fighting Saints will host the fourth annual "Pink the Rink," presented by UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital and the Finley Health Foundation on Friday, October 25 versus Chicago. The game will help promote breast cancer awareness, and the Fighting Saints will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game to benefit the Visiting Nurse Association. Returning to the schedule is "Military Appreciation Night," presented by Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen on Friday, November 15 versus Tri-City. The team will wear military themed-jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds going to the Veterans Freedom Center. The Fighting Saints will also host a Blackout Game, presented by Truck Country, with a post-game jersey auction to benefit the Dubuque Youth Hockey Association, on Saturday, February 22 versus Cedar Rapids.
Other returning favorites to the promotions schedule include Santa Claus Presents: Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Queen B Radio on Saturday, December 7 versus Waterloo. Fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear to the game and throw it on the ice for Toys for Tots after the Saints first goal. In January, the Fighting Saints will host Vegas Night, presented by Mystique Casino on the 24th, and Kids Run the Rink, presented by ManorCare Health Services on the 31st. In March, DBQ Fashions presents Girls Night Out on the 8th, and O'Toole Office Supply presents Irish Night on the 14th, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. The month ends with Mascot Mania presented by Victory Ford and a Post-Game Skate with the Saints on Sunday, March 23.
The Fighting Saints will also continue to offer families of four or more a great deal with Telegraph Herald Family Four Pack Nights. This special deal that includes 4 tickets, 4 slices of Dominos Pizza, and 4 sodas starting at just $48 will be available on October 4, November 27, January 3, February 21, and March 23.
The Fighting Saints will also hold a handful of College Nights during the 2013-2014 season where students with a valid college ID receive a special ticket offer. Those nights are September 19, September 28, November 1, February 1, and March 7.
