WATERLOO, Iowa - Despite the best efforts of Cody Bradley, who scored two goals for the Fighting Saints, the Waterloo Black Hawks pulled out a 4-2 win in Young Arena Saturday night. Through four games between the Fighting Saints and Black Hawks this season, the home team has won each contest.

The Black Hawks wasted no time to get onto the scoreboard in the first period. Just twenty-one seconds into the first period, Vince Hinostroza fed Scott MacDonald from behind the goal line. MacDonald fired a puck through the five-hole of Matt Morris to put the Black Hawks in the lead. Max Edson received credit for the secondary assist on what was the only goal of the first period.

Waterloo struck quickly once again in the second period. From the halfboards, Ryan Papa sent the puck in front of the net to Mark Naclerio, who redirected it past Morris to stretch the Black Hawk lead to 2-0 just two minutes into the second frame. The Fighting Saints responded midway through the period, however. Cody Bradley scooped up a puck along the boards in the neutral zone, made some pretty moves into the left circle, and fired a shot past Jay Williams to pull the Fighting Saints within one goal. The score would remain 2-1 heading into the third period.

MacDonald assisted Tyler Zepeda just over seven minutes into the third period to make the score 3-1 in favor of Waterloo. The Fighting Saints were not done yet, however. With Dubuque on the powerplay, TJ Moor found Bradley streaking up the left wing. Bradley entered the offensive zone and skated in along on Williams, sliding the puck into the net to bring the Fighting Saints within one once again. With an extra attacker out for the Fighting Saints in the game's final minute, aggressive pressure from the Black Hawks forced a turnover and allowed MacDonald to score his second goal, this one into an empty net, which gave the Black Hawks their 4-2 margin of victory.

The Fighting Saints will play only one game next weekend, but they will travel to South Dakota to do it, facing off against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday night. The Fighting Saints next return home for a meeting with Team USA on Thursday, January 19, at 7:05 p.m.
