Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
One night after defeating an Iowa rival in Dubuque, the Fighting Saints will hit the road in hopes of knocking off another nearby opponent - the Waterloo Black Hawks. Dubuque found success against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders last night, riding the wave of a four-goal first period to secure a 5-3 win and move to 4-0-0 against the RoughRiders on the season. Tonight's game in Waterloo, which starts at 7:05 p.m., will be the fourth meeting between the Fighting Saints and Black Hawks this season, and the Saints hope that it will be the first in which the road team emerges with two standings points.
The Black Hawks have shaken off the effects of a five-game winless streak that stretched from late November to early December. Since that period, Waterloo is 3-2-0, with one of their two losses coming to the Fighting Saints. Overall, the Black Hawks 13-9-4 record places them in the third slot in the Western Conference standings, eight standings points behind first place Lincoln with three games in hand over the Stars.
The Fighting Saints will play only one game next weekend, but they will travel to South Dakota to do it, facing off against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday night. The Fighting Saints next return home for a meeting with Team USA on Thursday, January 19, at 7:05 p.m.
Tonight's pregame coverage starts at 6:35 p.m. on Dubuque's Super Hits 106 and SuperHits106.com.
