Fighting Falcons to Host Red Wings Legend Tomas Holmstrom

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that Detroit Red Wings legend and four-time Stanley Cup champion Tomas Holmstrom will sign autographs at the Saturday, February 15 game between the Fighting Falcons and the Springfield Jr. Blues.

 

Each ticket holder at the game can get one autograph for free. Fans are encouraged to bring their own memorabilia or purchase a photo at the game for the signing. Season ticket holders and sponsors are invited to come early for hors d'oeuvres from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by an exclusive autograph session from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Holmstrom will sign autographs for all fans from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with a short break to drop the ceremonial first puck at 7 p.m.

 

"We're extremely excited to be able to bring Tomas Holmstrom here to downtown Port Huron," said Mike Reed, Fighting Falcons Director of Operations. "Bringing in a Red Wings legend is something is something that hasn't been done here for a few years, and something we hope our fans will enjoy.

 

Holmstrom played his entire 15-year NHL career with the Red Wings, amassing 530 points on 243 goals and 287 assists in 1,026 games. Holmstrom was a part of all four of Detroit's Stanley Cup championship teams of the modern era in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008.The Pitea, Sweden native also won a gold medal at the 2006 Olympics.

 

"Homer" retired after the 2011-12 season as one of just six players in Red Wings history to have played in over 1,000 games, and he was the last player from Detroit's back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998 to hang up his skates. Holmstrom is fourth in Red Wings franchise history in playoff games (180) and 13th in points (530).

 

On New Year's Eve, Holmstrom's shootout goal gave the Red Wings a 6-5 win and a sweep of the two-game Alumni Showdown between Detroit and Toronto.
