AMARILLO, TX - Three Amarillo Bulls Alumni have moved into the NCAA Division III rankings following the release of the latest poll.
Ryan Cole, TJ Sherman and Sam Johnson of Trinity College are ranked #12 in the country with a mark of 14-4-0. The Bantams have been bolstered by the great platy of Cole who is one of the top point getters in the nation in Division III.
Cole posted three goals and an assist as Trinity notched a win and a loss over the weekend. Trinity dropped a 3-2 decision to Amhearst. The following night saw Cole scored twice while TJ Sherman netted his first collegiate goal as Trinity blasted Hamilton 7-1.
In other Division III action, Mike Erickson set up two goals as St. Olaf beat St. Mary's 5-1. Erickson added an assist the next night in a 7-2 win over St. Mary's. Dan McNamara also got in on a goal as St. John's fell 2-1 to Gustavus Adolphus. Gage Christianson set up goals in both of Milwaukee School of Engineering's wins over Finlandia.
Forward Blake Roubos picked up an assist as Lawrence University dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Lake Forest.
In Division I play, Robert Morris University won both games in the Battle of the Alumni versus Army 4-0 and 6-4. John Rey and Greg Gibson had assists in the first game for Rorbert Morris. Forwards Joe Kozlak and Clint Carlisle each had a goal and an assist while Garrett Peterson also had an assist for Army in Game two.
Cody Freeman fired two goals to help Canisius College defeat American International 4-1. TJ Sarcona scored a goal in one game an assisted on another in the second game as Niagara split with Sacred Heart. Forward John Gustafsson also earned an assist as Merrimack College fell to UMass-Lowell 4-2.
The current Amarillo Bulls have the weekend off and will return to action on Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15 versus the Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. It's Parents Weekend as the Bulls will welcome players' parents to the Texas Panhandle. The Bulls will be wearing specialty jerseys in support of Texas Panhandle Pet Savers with a live auction immediately after the Saturday game to benefit that organization. It's also Scout Weekend.
