AMARILLO, TX -- The Amarillo Bulls continue to maintain a healthy first place lead in the South Division standings despite a split with the Lone Star Brahmas over the weekend.
Brady Ferguson, Roman Ammirato and Mike Davis scored on Friday as the Bulls bested the Brahmas 3-1. Saturday night's contest was a different story as the Bulls fired 34 shots at TJ Black but couldn't break through and fell 2-0.
The Bulls lead the second place Topeka RoadRunners by 11 points in the South Division. In the race for first overall in the NAHL, it's the Bulls by two points over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
It's a weekend off for the Amarillo Bulls before returning to action next Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15 against the same Lone Star Brahmas at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
WEEKEND OFF: It's an interesting month ahead with the Amarillo Bulls with two weekends off in a span of the next five weeks. The Bulls will be off this weekend and again February 28, and March. 1.
ELECTRIC LIGHT SKATE: The Amarillo Bulls are holding an Electric Light Skate this Saturday from 7 to 9 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at door and that includes skates, music and lighting.
BULLS IN THE COMMUNITY: The Bulls-Against-Bullying Program visits the After School Program at Puckett Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, and then Whittier Elementary School the following day.

FRIDAY, FEB. 14 & SATURDAY, FEB. 15 VS LONE STAR BRAHMAS, 7PM: The Battle of The Cattle Series resumes when the Bulls host the Brahmas at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls will wear specialty jerseys that weekend in support of Texas Panhandle Pet Savers. An auction will follow after Saturday's game with proceeds to benefit that organization. Saturday is also Scout Night and the Bulls will also welcome players' parents to the games.
WEEKLY REWIND:
AMARILLO BULLS 3 - LONE STAR BRAHMAS 1: Late goals propelled the Amarillo Bulls past the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday night. Brady Ferguson scored in the final five minutes of the first unassisted. After the Brahmas tied the game early in the second, it was Roman Ammirato who finished off a 2 on 1 play from Mike Davis. The Bulls secured the win with an empty net goal from Mike Davis in the final minute. Paul Berrafato stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced.
LONE STAR BRAHMAS 2 - AMARILLO BULLS 0: The offense was kept to the first 20 minutes on Saturday night. The Brahmas scored the first goal on a shot from the high slot and then converted on a scramble in front of the net for their second. Goaltender TJ Black thwarted the Bulls on several big chances and stopped all 34 shots he faced.
