Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO TX - The Frisco Fighters and Head Coach Billy Back are pleased to announce the signing of Mark Munson, Tyrell Thompson and Jordan Beaton to the 2022 roster.

Munson (6'1, 200) enters his second season with the Fighters. He had 31 receptions for 416 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 10 tackles in 2021. Munson spent time with the Arizona Rattlers in 2018 before earning a spot on the 2019 NAL championship Jacksonville Sharks roster.

He played two seasons at Angelo State after transferring in from Orange Coast College. As a senior at Angelo State Munson led the team with seven touchdown receptions, catching 22 passes for 426 yards. As a junior Munson compiled 337 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Munson concluded his junior college career at Orange Coast College ranking second in Orange Coast College single-season annals in receiving yards and No. 2 in the 37-school Southern California Football Assn. in receiving yards per game.

"Marks skill set, route running and size is exactly what we are looking for on our offense," said Head Coach Billy Back. "He played very well against me last season."

Thompson (6'4, 290) enters his second season with the Fighters. He had 19 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one pass break-up and one block in eight games last season. Thompson was selected by the Dallas Renegades in the inaugural XFL draft. The season was cut short due to COVID-19.

After one season at Blinn Junior College, Thompson transferred to Trinity Valley Community College, where he was named the No. 4 junior college player in the state and No. 12 junior college DT in the nation by 247Sports.com. Also named Defensive MVP, First-Team All-Conference, and First-Team All-Region. Thompson transferred to Tarleton State in 2016 and played in 11 games, totaling 57 tackles, including 24 solo. Named Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-American and All-LSC First Team. His 2017 Senior Season, Thompson was named D2Football.com Preseason All-American Second Team. Recorded 18 solo tackles with 10.0 tackles for a total loss of 57 yards and had 4.0 tacks for a total of 42 yards.

"Tyrell played well last season, with his presence in the middle controlling the run game won't be a problem for us," said Head Coach Billy Back. "His quickness and power will cause problems for opposing teams."

Beaton (6'2, 305) enters his first season with the Fighters. He played at South Alabama where he was named Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference following his first season with the program. Jordan started all 12 contests at nose tackle, recording 30 total tackles including six behind the line of scrimmage with a pair of sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

The Frisco Fighters kick off their 2022 season on the road against reigning Champions Massachusetts Pirates on March 12 with a 6:05 PM kickoff.
