Fighters (4-0) Seek Fifth Straight Win against Duke City (2-3)

Frisco Fighters News Release

FRISCO, Texas - After an unsuspected bye week, the Frisco Fighters are hitting the road to face the Duke City Gladiators for the second time this season on Saturday, June 26 at 7:05 p.m. CT.

Last weekend, the Fighters were scheduled to play in front of a home crowd, but the game was canceled after the Louisville Xtreme organization ceased operations.

"It's very disappointing," said head coach Clint Dolezel. "We had a great crowd in our home opener. We were looking forward to getting back in front of them, and I'm hoping they were looking forward to watching us play again."

Although disappointing, last week's cancellation gave the Fighters an extra weekend to recover from injuries and prepare for the Gladiators.

"It's kind of funny that we're in week ten, but we've only played four games," said Dolezel. "We were pretty beat up in certain spots, so it's nice to have those days off to get them healed up. We came back pretty fresh with a good two weeks of prep against Duke City."

One main focus of this preparation is stopping the Davis-to-Davis connection. Last matchup, quarterback Nate Davis connected with wide receiver Dello Davis on six touchdown passes. Dello Davis totaled 136 yards on ten receptions.

Although Dello Davis is the focal point of the Gladiators' offense, Frisco has its own set of weapons. Running back DeMarcus Felton scored five touchdowns against Duke City's defense, four rushing and one receiving, for a total of 114 yards.

Heading into game five, the Fighters are prepared and hungry for their fifth win.

Livestream the game on The IFL's YouTube or listen to the game called live by Dave Barnett on 95.3 KHYI.
