Danbury Hat Tricks News Release

DANBURY - It was fight night at Danbury Arena. The Danbury Hat Tricks completed their weekend sweep of the Delaware Thunder in front of a packed Danbury Arena crowd Saturday night, topping the Thunder 6-1.

The Hat Tricks jumped out to an early lead, as Vlad Gavrik buried a rebound just over five minutes into the opening period. Phil Bronner would tack on a powerplay goal of his own, capitalizing on a netmouth scramble.

Before the period's end, a flurry of fights would send the benches into a frenzy, as Matyas Kasek dropped the gloves with Patrik Tondl and Anthony Pisano squared off with Danbury's Nicola Levesque. Penalties would abound as the two teams, playing for the fourth time in two weeks, grew irritated.

Gavrik would rifle a slapshot from the point past the glove of Aaron Taylor to extend the Tricks' lead to three early in the second period. Thomas Munichiello would respond for Delaware, sneaking a wrist shot past Tom McGuckin on a break-in. the Hat Tricks' defense would lock things down as the game wore on, limiting Delaware's chances.

Cory Anderson would pot a one-timer on the powerplay, converting a feed from the corner from Levesque, giving Danbury a 4-1 lead heading into the third.

The fights and penalty exchanges would spill over into the third period, with Delaware's Anthony Pisano earning a game misconduct for his involvement in the festivities. Jonny Ruiz and Shayne Morrissey would tack on two more goals sealing the 6-1 victory.

"I'm proud of how our guys responded tonight," said head coach Billy McCreary. "You have to play tough and answer the bell no matter who's in front of you, and our guys did a good job of that tonight."
