FRISCO, TX - Brandon Fields set a franchise record with 20 points and 20 assists in the team's first victory of 2020. In front of another sold-out crowd, the Texas Legends (13-10) took a decisive 134-119 win over the South Bay Lakers (10-11) Saturday night.

Travis Wear grabbed the first points of the game to put the Lakers up 3-0. Aric Holman quickly tied it up, but the Lakers took control, building a seven-point edge midway through the first. Texas grabbed the lead briefly with 4:30 left in the quarter, but South Bay was firing at 56% to hit the buzzer up 37-33. The second quarter belonged to the visitors, whose shooting improved to over 71% en route to their largest lead of the night (+14) at the half.

Holman opened the second half with a three for Texas to set the tone. South Bay regained their 14-point advantage, but the Legends responded with a 24-8 run to take their first lead since the first quarter. With seconds left in the third, Jordan Caroline knocked down a three to make it a one-point game, but Brandon Fields got the final shot and sent Texas into the final quarter up 102-99. Dakota Mathias had all 10 of his points in the fourth to help Texas finish strong. Mathias and Antonius Cleveland combined for a 22-point fourth while South Bay finished with 20 as a team. At the six-minute mark, a Mathias three gave Texas a double-digit gap they would carry to the final buzzer.

Fields' 20 assists were the most in franchise history, topping the 17-assist mark set by Mike James in the 2014-15 season. Fields becomes the first player since Jameel Warney (24 points, 20 rebounds) in 2017 to have a 20-20 game, the sixth all time to do so, and the first to hit the mark with points-assists.

Cleveland led all scorers with a career-high 29 points to go with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Moses Brown also posted a career-high 23 points with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench. Trahson Burrell grabbed his second double-double of the season with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and Aric Holman earned his first start for Texas and responded with 18 points (3-4 from outside), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Dakota Mathias rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Texas shot 51% overall and 42% outside.
