Fiala Traded to Saskatoon

Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced today that Ondrej Fiala has been traded to the Saskatoon Blades for a conditional 3rd round draft pick in 2009. Fiala, a twenty year old left wing out of the Czech Republic, had one assist and two penalty minutes in three games for the Silvertips this season, accumulating a -3 rating.

Drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Wild in 2006, the talented forward logged 93 games over parts of three seasons for the Silvertips, totaling 33 goals and 36 assists for 69 points while logging 52 penalty minutes and a +1 rating. He represented the Czech Republic in the 2004-05 IIHF World Under-18 Junior Championships and was also selected to the 2006 CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game.

With Fiala's departure, the Silvertips have pared their roster down to two Europeans in Lukas Vartovnik and Vitaly Karamnov, while the overager situation has now been whittled down to four players in Brennan Sonne, Dan Gendur, Dane Crowley and David Reekie.

The regular season continues on Friday, October 5th at Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center as the Silvertips host the rival Portland Winter Hawks in a Western Hockey League contest beginning at 7:35 pm.
