NEWS & NOTES

- On Monday, July 9, Tamika Catchings was named the Eastern Conference's Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, July 8. An 11-time Player of the Week winner, Catchings receives her second honor this season after averaging 16.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 8.0 apg, 5.5 spg and shooting 42 percent from the floor (10-24) and 72 percent on free throws (13-18) for the week. Catchings led her team in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals in both contests as the Fever posted a 2-0 record, maintaining the league's best overall record at 13-4. With 13, Lisa Leslie is the only player in league history to have received more Player of the Week awards in her career than Catchings.

- For the first time in its history, the Fever will have three representatives on the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Tamika Catchings and Anna DeForge were selected as starters in balloting by WNBA fans around the world. Tammy Sutton-Brown was chosen by Eastern Conference coaches as a reserve on the team.

- With team-highs of 16 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and seven steals vs. Chicago, 7July /8, (to be consistent with other dates) Tamika Catchings became the first player in WNBA history to have at least seven points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals in the same game. Her 11 assists vs. Chicago were her career-best and tied the franchise record.

- Catchings' seven steals against the Sky moved her into third place on the WNBA's all-time career steals list with 474 in six seasons.

- Having shot 13-19 FG (.684) in the last two games, Tammy Sutton-Brown leads the WNBA in field goal percentage at 56.7 (this format is inconsistent with other percentages elsewhere on this document) percent for the season.

- Indiana reserve guard K.B. Sharp had a bench-high two assists and no turnovers in 17 minutes against Chicago, July 8. With an assists-to-turnover ratio of 2.21:1, Sharp is third in the WNBA and leads all Eastern Conference players.

- With a record of 13-4, the Fever has hit the half-way point of the season with the best record in the WNBA. Since the WNBA expended its schedule to 34 games in 2003, the Fever's .765 winning percentage is the second best ever. The L.A. Sparks started the 2006 season 14-3 (.824).

Chicago Sky Head Coach Bo Overton on Tamika Catchings:

"She is the best player in the league. She could probably play any position, even point guard, if they asked her to."
