NEWS & NOTES

- The Fever's win at New York, June 24, was its third straight road win, tying the longest road winning streak in franchise history. However, that is the first time that Indiana has ever won three straight road games in the same season. The only other three-game road winning streak included the last two away games of the 2006 season and the win at Minnesota, May 29, 2007.

- The Fever has held its last eight opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the field, tying a WNBA record. Indiana is the third team in league history to accomplish this feat and the first since the Houston Comets did so from July 26 to August 10, 2003. The Miami Sol were the first to limit eight straight opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the field from July 7 to July 25, 2001.

- Dating back to the last game of the 2005 regular season, the Fever has won a franchise record 23 straight games in which it has held opponents to less than 70 points.

- At its current league-leading pace of 83.8 percent from the foul line, the Fever would set a WNBA record for free throw percentage in a single season. The current record is 82.2 percent by the Houston Comets in 2000. The Fever boasts seven players shooting 85 percent, or better, from the line this season. However, only three (Tan White, Tamika Catchings and Tamika Whitmore) have enough free throw attempts to qualify for the league leaders. White is tied for eighth in the WNBA at 88.9 percent, while Catchings is 11th at 86.9 percent and Whitmore is 13th at 86.2 percent from the line. Anna DeForge has made all 18 of her free throw attempts this season, but does not qualify for the league leaders.

- Indiana's win against the New York Liberty, June 24, lifted its road record to a franchise best 4-1. That is the quickest the Fever has ever gotten to four road wins. Last season, Indiana won its fourth road game at Phoenix, July 23. That was Indiana's eighth road game of the 2006 campaign.

- Tamika Catchings is tied for second in the WNBA, and leads the Eastern Conference, with four double-doubles this season. That gives her 47 double-doubles in her career, which is ninth on the WNBA's all-time career list. She is two behind the Connecticut Sun's Margo Dydek.]

- Tan White's 10.5 points per game average ranks third among those players that have started less than half her team's games. Kara Lawson has averaged 13.0 ppg in 13 games off the bench for Sacramento and Monique Currie has averaged 11.2 ppg in nine games as a reserve for Chicago. White, Lawson and Ashley Shields of Houston are the only players in the league to score 20 points off the bench in at least two games this season.

QUOTABLE QUOTES

Head Coach Brian Winters following the Fever's win at New York, June 24:

"We've been talking a lot about sustaining our effort longer, and playing hard. We did a better job of that tonight, than in our last home game. I was happy with our start. We were very aggressive and helped each other on defense. We wanted to establish ourselves early, and then sustain it. And I think we did."

UPCOMING GAME PROMOTIONS

In honor of Freddy Fever's birthday, the Christian band Connersvine, featuring Hunter Smith of the Indianapolis Colts, will perform in a free concert prior to the Fever's game vs. Chicago on Sunday, July 8. The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. The first 1,000 kids, 13 and under, in attendance at the game with the Sky will receive a Freddy Fever Birthday Puzzle. Freddy and some mascot friends will be signing autographs from 5:00-5:30 p.m. on the Main Concourse of Conseco Fieldhouse. It's also McDonald's Family Nights presented by The Indianapolis Star.
