Indiana Fever News Release
NEWS & NOTES
- There have been 12 games in the WNBA in which the two teams have combined for less than 130 points. The Fever have been involved in five of those 12 games, including the game vs. Houston, July 16. The 116 points scored in that game is the second lowest total in the WNBA in 2006 and is one point off the 115 points scored by the two teams in Indiana's 62-53 win at San Antonio, May 23.
- Led by Tamika Whitmore's eight rebounds, the Fever outrebounded the L.A. Sparks, 31-24, at Conseco Fieldhouse, July 22. But, Indiana's loss in that game was just its second (11-2) this season when outrebounding an opponent.
- The Sparks had just one offensive rebound at the Fieldhouse, the fewest ever by a Fever opponent and tying the fewest ever by one team in a WNBA contest.
- Tamika Catchings scored a game-high 27 points against the Sparks, hitting 12-20 FG and 3-6 FT. Her 12 field goals were the second most ever by a Fever player and the most by any Indiana player this season.
- In its win against the Phoenix Mercury, July 18, the Fever had a season-high 17 steals and the team averaged 15.0 spg in its two games last week. For the season, Indiana is second in the league with an average of 9.88 spg.
- Phoenix's 26 turnovers at Conseco Fieldhouse, July 18, were the second most in Mercury history and were the second most turnovers ever by a Fever opponent.
- With her three steals against the Sparks, Tully Bevilaqua joined Tamika Catchings and the Silver Stars' Shannon Johnson as the only players in the WNBA this season with 50+ steals. Her three thefts against L.A. gave her 50 on the season, while Catchings leads the WNBA with 57 steals. Bevilaqua and Johnson are tied for second in the WNBA with 2.08 spg and Catchings leads the league for the second year in a row at 2.59 spg.

QUOTABLE QUOTES
Los Angeles Sparks Head Coach Joe Bryant on a potential WNBA Finals matchup between Indiana and Los Angeles:
"You're right, this would be a helluva final. Indiana plays so hard. They're so aggressive, I love their style. They make you throw the ball all over the damn place. If you're not prepared, if you don't have patience, they make you look bad."
