Fernandez Doubles in Yard Goats Final Home Game of 2023

Hartford, CT - Yard Goats outfielder Yanquiel Fernandez cracked his 10th double since joining the club, however, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies won the completion of the suspended game 10-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dunkin' Park. It was the Yard Goats final home game of the season. The game started on Friday night but was suspended due to inclement weather on Friday and Saturday. The originally scheduled game for Sunday afternoon was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Yard Goats will begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday in Portland, Maine.
On Friday night, the Rumble Ponies scored four runs in the first inning off Yard Goats starter Andrew Quezada. The inning was highlighted by a three-run home run by Jerimiah Jackson. Binghamton made it 7-0 on Rowdey Jordan's three-run homer in the third inning. Mets prospect Dom Hamel was impressive and struck out five over three innings and did not allow a hit. After three innings the game was suspended due to inclement weather.
The game resumed on Sunday afternoon and Binghamton added two runs in the fourth inning to make it 9-0. Agustin Ruiz and Rowdey Jordan put together back-to-back singles with two outs against Bryce McGowan.
Yard Goats outfielder Yanquiel Fernandez belted a double down the right field line in the fourth inning off reliever Jordan Gerber. Gerber ended up working around the hit and fired six scoreless innings with three strikeouts for the win.
Hartford relievers Alec Barger and Angel Chivilli combined to pitch three perfect innings and retire all nine batters faced.
The Yard Goats will begin a six-game road trip against the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs, at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
