Female Knuckleballer to Start Sunday in Calgary

The Calgary Vipers have received confirmation that female pitcher Eri Yoshida will start for the Chico Outlaws at Foothills Stadium in Calgary on Sunday August 1st at 1:35 PM. It has been a busy season for the 18-year-old knuckleballer from Japan as she became the first woman to pitch professional in three countries earlier this year. The 5"1" 115 pounder has received recognition from the baseball Hall of Fame where her jersey and bat will be displayed in a special exhibit. The "Knuckle Princess" has also garnered national media attention with the CBS Evening News and national syndicated program "This Week in Baseball" chronicling her story.

Calgary concludes a two-game series in Edmonton against the Capitals at Telus Field tonight, Thursday July 29th at 7:00 PM MDT.

The Vipers return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium for a three-game series with the first half champion Chico Outlaws on Friday July 30th at 7:05 PM for Girls Night, Saturday July 31st at 1:35 PM for Protect and Serve Day, and Sunday August 1st at 1:35 PM for 9 Inning Giveaway Day where female knuckleballer Eri Yoshida will take to the mound.

On Tuesday August 3rd and Wednesday August 4th both days from 9:00 AM till 12:00 PM MDT children ages 8-14 can be a part of the Calgary Vipers roster. During the two clinics children will receive instruction from professional coaches and veteran players as they play a live game at Foothills Stadium.
