Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The RoughRiders received a dominating pitching performance by starter Scott Feldman (1-0) and Chris Davis continued his early hot streak as Frisco (2-0) defeated Springfield (0-2) 2-1 Friday night to begin the young season with two victories.

The 'Riders got things going offensively in the third frame when Craig Gentry and Elvis Andrus opened the inning with back-to-back singles followed by a single by Davis to score both runners and give Frisco an early 2-0 advantage.

Meanwhile, Feldman began the game sitting down the first 15 batters he faced, a streak broken only by a hit batter to lead off the fifth. He held the Cardinals hitless until the seventh frame when he allowed three hits, but allowed just one run to keep the damage to a minimum and prolong the 'Rider lead. Brennan Garr pitched a scoreless eighth and Warner Madrigal earned his second save in as many nights getting the last three outs of the ballgame.

Davis and Andrus each went 2-for-4 on the night, including Davis' second double of the season. Cody Haerther led Springfield with two hits and scored the Cardinals lone run of the game. Feldman pitched seven innings, striking out two and allowing just one run. Jaime Garcia (0-1) received the loss after four innings, giving up two runs and striking out six.

The 'Riders will look for the sweep on Saturday as the Michael Schlact makes his first start of the season for Frisco. First pitch is slated for 2:05 p.m. from Hammons Field.
