FC Montreal Faces the Kickers in Richmond on Saturday

RICHMOND, Virginia - FC Montreal will play its ninth game of the season this Saturday, May 28, at 7pm EDT against the Richmond Kickers at City Stadium.

The Kickers are sixth in the Eastern Conference and haven't lost at home yet, with four wins and a draw, but they haven't won in their last three games. Japanese midfielder Yudai Imura is top scorer of the team with three goals.

"I played against Richmond last year. It was a physically solid and defensively compact team," said midfielder Philippe Lincourt-Joseph. "We go there with confidence, rage and the intention of bringing back points."

In 2015, Richmond won the first meeting between both teams by a 1-0 score in Montreal, while the second meeting was a 0-0 draw in Virginia.

The Bleu-blanc-noir lost 1-0 last Saturday against New York Red Bulls II in its opening game at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. The team had to deal with an altered roster, playing many elements out of position in the starting XI because of players being away on national team duty or injured. Zachary Sukunda and Philippe Lincourt-Joseph both got their first start of the season in that game.

"We had no choice but to play with five players out of position, and they did well," said FC Montreal head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "It's very satisfying. It means that, at any time, we can change our game plan and switch certain players. Richmond is a team that can play with the ball but adapts a lot to the opponent. They will keep the control of the game against weaker teams and play on the break against stronger ones. It will be an interesting game from a technical perspective."

The game will be streamed live on www.montrealimpact.com.

The next FC Montreal home game will be on Saturday, June 4, at 3pm EDT against the Rochester Rhinos at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. Fans can buy tickets and enter the stadium on the Southwest side of the field starting at 2pm. Tickets cost $5, with $1 going to the Montreal Impact Foundation. Admission is free for season ticket holders on presentation of their membership card.
