FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, July 29) - FC Dallas has traded midfielder Andrew Jacobson to MLS expansion side NYCFC in exchange for New York City FC's highest 2016 third round SuperDraft pick, the club announced today. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
Jacobson was acquired via trade with Philadelphia on Feb. 18, 2011. The midfielder appeared in 98 matches, started 85 times and logged 7,281 minutes with FC Dallas in the past four seasons. During that time, the California product scored five goals and added seven assists.
Last season, Jacobson registered career highs in goals and shots (40) while ranking sixth on the team in minutes played (2,292) and fourth in games started (27). During the 2012 campaign, Jacobson (31) tied Zach Loyd for the most games started for FC Dallas. He also played the second-most minutes (2,597) of any FC Dallas player in 2012. That total ranks 15th all-time in franchise history for minutes played in single season. Jacobson led FC Dallas in assists (5) during his first season with the club in 2011.
