FC Dallas Host Successful Kicks for Kids Holiday Party

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas hosted its inaugural Kicks for Kids Holiday Party on Monday night at Dave & Busters inside the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. More than 150 local children from the Frisco Boys and Girls Club, Plano Boys and Girls Club and St. Cecilia's School enjoyed a lavish buffet dinner from D&B while also getting to play all of the establishment's fantastic video and arcade games with some of their favorite FC Dallas players. Chris Gbandi, Drew Moor and Ramon Nunez were all on hand along with Head Coach Colin Clarke to sign autographs and interact with the kids as they enjoyed their big day out.

FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock and the Mayor of the City of Frisco, Mike Simpson got the festivities started with short introductions and speeches that included the surprise announcement that all kids in attendance on the night would also be on hand at Pizza Hut park on April 1 when FC Dallas opens its 2006 season against the Chicago Fire at 3 p.m.

But as excited as the kids were to hear that they would be in the crowd cheering for the Hoops on April 1, the biggest cheers on the evening were reserved for none other than Santa Claus who took a break from his super-busy schedule to drop off soccer balls, FC Dallas hats and other goodies for the kids and chaperones in attendance.

"It was a great night and we couldn't have asked for a better kickoff to the 2006 Kicks for Kids program. You know you have a worthy cause when you get Santa Claus, the Mayor of Frisco, FC Dallas players, Coach Clarke and 14 community minded companies to support the program," Hitchcock said. "As an organization, as much as we want to win championships and sell out our beautiful stadium, Pizza Hut Park; we also have an obligation to make the community of which we're a member a better place to live, work and play. The Kicks for Kids program and events like our Kicks for Kids Holiday Party will go a long way in helping accomplish that goal. By using our players as positive role models for at risk kids; FC Dallas home games at Pizza Hut Park as incentives and rewards for these same kids to beat the streets and community events, like tonight's Kicks for Kids Holiday Party... we plan to help thousands of inner city and disadvantaged youth reach their full potential in life through the great game of soccer."

FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, began play at Pizza Hut Park, a new 20,000 seat soccer specific stadium, on August 6, 2005. The 145-acre facility is located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. Pizza Hut Park will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football. Adjacent to the stadium are 17 regulation-sized, tournament-grade soccer fields which will be utilized on a year-round basis.
