FC DALLAS POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Nico Estévez

On the team's decision to wear t-shirts and armbands in support of victims of the recent tragedy in Allen, TX...

"It's something that happened very close to us, and the players reached out to me and wanted to send their support to the victims and community. We have a group that's very mature and they want to help in any situation. They want to be proactive. It's a good group of human beings we have in the locker room, and this is why we did it and I support them on that. As a staff, we are very proud of them."

On the decision to change to a three-back formation...

"We had to be creative in the way we wanted to play because we're missing a lot of players and there's a lot of games coming up. We couldn't force our players out there in case they got hurt so we had to be creative. We started really well and defensively worked very well, we left Nashville on 0.17 Expected Goals. They had two good shots on goal and they scored. I think on the attacking side, I'm not happy with what we did and that's probably on me because I couldn't communicate well what we wanted to do in attack. The players did their best but I should've spent more time trying to let them know how we could break them down. In the second half we came more alive in the attacking half but we didn't create much."

On Alan Velasco returning from injury and making a substitute appearance...

"It's really important. We were unlucky the other day with the postponement of the game against S. Louis because he would've gotten these minutes before to prepare for this game. We have to go step-by-step because we have a lot of games. I think it's good he came in and got the ball, got touches and tempo of the game. He did a very good job coming in and showing himself to help the team try to get a goal."
