Atlanta United FC News Release

ATLANTA - Atlanta United defender Caleb Wiley has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Men's Youth National Team squad for the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, U.S. Soccer announced today. Wiley will leave to join the U.S. camp following Atlanta's match against Charlotte FC on Saturday, May 13.

The U.S. begins Group B play on Saturday, May 20 against Ecuador, faces Fiji on Tuesday, May 23 and closes the group stage against Slovakia on Friday, May 26. All three matches kick off at 2 p.m. ET and will be shown on FOX Sports and Telemundo platforms.

The 18-year-old recently made his United States Men's National Team debut, coming on as a substitute in the Allstate Continental Clásico against Mexico on April 19. He previously made six appearances with the U.S. U-20s and three appearances with the U.S. U-17s.

Wiley joined Atlanta United's Academy at the age of 11 as a member of the club's inaugural U-12 team in 2016. The defender signed a Homegrown contract with Atlanta on Jan. 18, 2022 and made the transition to the First Team where he started 18 of 26 MLS appearances and played over 1,500 minutes between left back and left wing. Wiley recorded one goal and two assists in 2022, scoring his first career MLS goal in his league debut in a 3-1 win against Sporting KC on Feb. 27. Wiley has recorded three goals and two assists and started 10 of his 11 MLS appearances this season. He was named the MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 3 after his two-goal, one-assist performance in Atlanta's 3-0 win at Charlotte FC on March 11.

Wiley joins Ezequiel Barco, Guillermo Benítez, Wesly Decas and Lagos Kunga as players to represent the club at a U-20 World Cup.

Atlanta returns to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, May 13 when it hosts Charlotte FC (7:30 p.m. EST, MLS Season Pass, 92.9 The Game, La Mejor).
