LONG LIVE THE QUEEN

FCC and Charlotte Independence will compete for the right to hoist the Queen City Cup this Wed., (Aug 31) to cap the month of August.

The two clubs formed the Queen City Cup Challenge with Cincinnati Mayor, John Cranley, and Charlotte Mayor, Jennifer Roberts, agreeing to serve food to the homeless in their respective cities wearing the winning team's jersey.

Following the bout in North Carolina, FCC will return to Nippert Stadium to to engage in an interconference battle against Saint Louis FC for a Labor Day match next Mon., Sept. 5.

FCC's first match of September, tabbed a "Blue Out", also kicks off the first of the club's final five regular-season matches.

FCC is currently in a tie for third place against Richmond Kickers with 43 points.

The team had its five-match unbeaten streak snapped against New York Red Bulls II and looks to get back on the winning side of the ledger.

CINCY SPORTS WEEKEND

FCC and the Reds will host a pair of St. Louis teams over the Labor Day weekend.

The Reds host the Cardinals, Sept. 2-4 while FCC takes on Saint Louis FC Mon., Sept. 5.

CONGESTION IN THE EAST

Third place FCC and Richmond are separated by a mere four points from from Charlotte Independence (39 pts.) as the race to host a playoff match continues this week.

Charleston Battery and Rochester sit two points behind in a tie for fifth with 41 points apiece.

Orlando FC is also still in the hunt with 32 points on the year with 15 points avaialble.

FCC secured one of the eight playoff spots prior to their match Sunday.

FROM ONE QUEEN CITY TO THE OTHER

Charlotte Independence is currently seventh with 39 points and an 11-7-6 USL record.

The Independence put together a six-game unbeaten streak but saw that run end in a 1-0 loss to Charleston last Saturday.

Charlotte is out-scoring the opposition 35-24 and have put 133 shots on goal.

Brian Brown paces the Independence with 19 points on seven goals and five assists.

Enzo Martinez trails his teammate by a point and has registered seven goals and four assists for 18 points.

The match, originally scheduled to be played May 21, was moved due to inclement weather that led to a compromised playing field.

FCC recorded a 2-1 win over Charlotte in the teams' first meeting back in April with Sean Okoli and Austin Berry giving the team a two-goal lead.

THE CUP AT STAKE

FCC currently leads the series following a 2-1 win at Nippert Stadium.

Should Charlotte win 1-0, the Independence will lift the trophy due to their away-goal tally.

A 2-1 win by Charlotte would see both teams locked on total goals and away goals, meaning the teams would jointly hold the trophy until next season.

Should FCC score two or more goals but still get edged by a difference of one, the Orange and Blue would win the trophy by virtue of the side's away-goal tally.

SAINT LOUIS FC

Saint Louis FC holds a 7-10-8 record for 29 points with five matches remaining.

The club hosts OKC Energy FC Wed., before making the trip to Nippert Stadium.

Saint Louis FC looks to move back into the win colums after dropping two of the last three games.

FCC leads the series after winning 2-1 at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
