FC Cincinnati face off with Vancouver Whitecaps FC for second time in club history on Wednesday night. Kickoff from TQL Stadium is set for 8 p.m. on July 13. Wednesday night is an Orange Out! All fans are encouraged to match the team's Juncta Juvant kits and wear orange.

ALL-TIME SERIES

The Whitecaps won the only previous meeting between the two clubs, a 2-1 contest at Nippert Stadium in August 2019.

SCOUTING VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC (7-9-3, 24 PTS, 10TH WESTERN CONFERENCE)

Head Coach Vanni Sartini's squad has just two fewer points than does FC Cincinnati, but the Whitecaps sit back in tenth in a top-heavy Western Conference.

Vancouver was among the hottest teams in MLS before their most recent game, a 3-1 home loss to Minnesota United FC which snapped an eight-game home unbeaten streak across all competitions. The 'Caps conceded three goals after the 70th minute to Minnesota. Prior to that Friday night loss, Vancouver had tallied 20 points in their last 10 MLS contests with a 6-2-2 record.

Despite the hot streak, Vancouver come into Cincinnati with a 2-7-0 road record. The seven away losses rank most in MLS, and the club's -11 goal difference is the third-worst in the league.

Lucas Cavallini leads all Whitecaps players with six goals. 10 other players have scored at least one goal for Vancouver, but no other player has scored more than twice. Always dangerous is veteran Canadian international Tosaint Ricketts, whose next game played will be his 100th appearance in MLS. Another big milestone awaits their captain Russell Teibert, whose next appearance will mark 300 career appearances for club and his country, Canada.

Three key contributors dealing with injuries include Sebastian Berhalter (stress fracture), Deiber Caicedo (meniscus tear) and Cristián Gutiérrez (calf strain), all of whom appeared in at least 11 games this season prior to their injuries.

A familiar face to watch for is goalkeeper Cody Cropper, who has made 10 appearances since joining Vancouver mid-season. Cropper made one start for the Orange and Blue in 2021.

STORYLINES OF THE GAME

WELCOME BACK, VANCOUVER - FC Cincinnati welcome Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the second all-time meeting between the two sides. The only previous meeting came on August 3, 2019 at Nippert Stadium, a 2-1 Whitecaps win where Allan Cruz opened scoring in the 6th minute, but the visitors scored in the 41st min. (Hwang In-beom) and the winner in the 84th min (Felipe Martins).

That game on August 3, 2019 saw FCC tally 20 shots, the second-most in club history in a single game (22 - 6/19/21 vs. COL).

NOT MUCH EXPERIENCE AGAINST THE 'CAPS - Every player who suits up for FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night will do so for the Orange and Blue for the first time against the Whitecaps. Allan Cruz, who will not be on the field Wednesday night due to his red card on Saturday night, is the only active player for FCC to have appeared in the 2019 matchup with Vancouver.

11 current players for the Orange and Blue have faced the Whitecaps with other previous clubs.

THE WILD, WILD WEST - The Western Conference has not been kind to FC Cincinnati since the Orange and Blue joined MLS in 2019, with FCC holding a 3-15-1 record against WC foes, including an 2-7-1 record in the Queen City.

FCC's last win over a Western Conference opponent was July 6, 2019 at Nippert Stadium, a 3-2 win over Houston Dynamo.

GET SOME REST! - Wednesday will mark just the fifth time since 2019 that FC Cincinnati had an MLS home kickoff in the Queen City scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, the latest home kickoff time in club history. One of the previous four instances also featured the Whitecaps (10/9/21 vs PHI; 9/11/21 vs TOR; 8/3/19 vs VAN; 7/18/19 vs DC).

THOSE FIRST HALF GOALS - FC Cincinnati enter Wednesday having scored 17 first half goals this season, in a four-way tie for most in MLS in the opening half (PHI, MTL, NYC). Meanwhile, Vancouver have scored just seven first half goals this season, also in a four-way tie for the fewest in MLS this season in the opening half (RSL, SKC, CHI).

ON HUMP DAY - FC Cincinnati play an MLS contest on a Wednesday for the 19th time in club history. The club all-time on Hump Day are 4-8-6, including 3-4-5 in Cincinnati.

This matchup marks FCC's second of four scheduled MLS games on Wednesday this season, FCC enter 1-0-1 after knocking off Toronto FC, 2-0, on Wed., May 4 and tying New York City FC, 4-4, on Wed., June 29.
