GEODIS Preview: Nashville SC Faces Seattle Sounders FC at GEODIS Park

Nashville SC (7W-6L-6D, 27 pts.) is back home at GEODIS Park on Wednesday night to face reigning Concacaf Champions League winners Seattle Sounders FC (8W-8L-2D, 26 pts.) in the first of two home matches this week.

Nashville SC has taken full advantage of playing in Music City since joining Major League Soccer, earning results in 34 of 37 all-time league matches.

Opportunity Awaits - After falling on the road at Charlotte FC, Nashville SC will have a chance to bounce back with its next three of fours matches in July at home, starting with Wednesday against Seattle.

Defender Walker Zimmerman, who was named to his third consecutive MLS All-Star Game this week, says the team is ready for the task.

"We have a quick turnaround," he said. "We have two really big games this week that we have to get our minds wrapped around playing and try and move on quickly."

Mukhtar In Form - Nashville SC midfielder and MVP candidate Hany Mukhtar, who was selected to the 2022 MLS All-Star Game along with Zimmerman, has been lighting up the score sheet recently. He's scored at least one goal in each of his last four matches across all competitions, boosting him to fourth in the MLS Golden Boot race with 10 goals on the season. In total, he has 13 goals across all competitions.

The 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP Finalist leads MLS in shots (75) and shots on goal (42). He's also tied for second in goal contributions (15). Since 2021, he leads all MLS players in goal contributions with 43 (26 goals, 17 assists).

Mukhtar will look to continue that run of form against the Sounders.

Scouting the Sounders - This will be Nashville SC's second-ever matchup against Seattle. The Boys in Gold won the first-ever matchup with the Sounders 1-0 at Lumen Field in Seattle on Feb. 27. Aníbal Godoy scored the lone goal of that match in the 80' minute with an assist from Randall Leal.

Since that match, the Sounders have become the first MLS club to win the Concacaf Champions League and currently sit in eighth place in the Western Conference standings. Forwards Jordan Morris and Raúl Ruidíaz are tied for the team lead in goals with five apiece. Midfielders Nicolás Lodeiro and Cristian Roldan each have five assists to lead the squad as well.

Seattle has a 3W-4L-1D record on the road this season. They've won two of their last three on the road, most recently with a 2-0 win at Toronto FC on July 2.
