Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - For the second time in less than a week, the Fayetteville SwampDogs have had a game suspended in progress, forcing a venue change for the resulting doubleheader.

The SwampDogs and Morehead City Marlins had already endured a 40-minute delay when, after another 56-minute wait, the umpires finally suspended the game in the top of the second inning. Both teams scored two runs on two hits in the first inning before the second delay.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday in Morehead City. Just as the SwampDogs were the visiting team in the first game of the doubleheader on Monday in the makeup game from Columbia, the ‘Dogs will be the home team for the first game at Puck O'Neal Field this weekend. No start time has yet been announced.

Eric Grabe hit a two-run homerun prior to the delay that tied the game at two. Both starters - Brewer Carter for Fayetteville and Sam Lindquist for Morehead City - struggled with their control during their brief outings.

Both teams did manage to pick up a half-game on Florence, who lost to Columbia earlier tonight. The SwampDogs and Marlins are now each just one half-game behind the RedWolves - and even in the loss column - the CPL South.

The temperature was 100 degrees at the time of first pitch, the first time this season the SwampDogs have played a game with the temperature in triple digits this season.

Morehead City - 2 / 2 / 2 / 0

Fayetteville - 2 / 2 / 2 / 0
