
Fantasy draft deadline approaches

Brandon, Manitoba -- The deadline for fans to enter what could be their only opportunity at a "free" hockey draft this season is fast approaching.
This Friday at 5 p.m. is the deadline for fans to enter the 2004-05 Brandon Sun / Sobkow Technologies Western Hockey League Fantasy draft.
Fans have the opportunity to select a 15-player roster, from sixty players available including five members of the Brandon Wheat Kings - Washington Capitals' first round draft choice Eric Fehr, Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Ryan Stone, captain Tim Konsorada, forward Mark Shefchyk and Finnish born rookie Sami Sandell.
Among the other players available - high scoring Nigel Dawes of the Kootenay Ice, Calgary's Ryan Getzlaf and Andrew Ladd, Clarke MacArthur of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Swift Current's Tyler Redenbach and Vancouver's dynamic duo of Gilbert Brule and Adam Courchaine.
In addition to winning a 2005-06 Wheat Kings' season ticket, this year's winner will take home the grand prize from Dufresne Furniture and Appliances.
Among the rules and conditions....
1) Maximum two entries per person
2) For purpose of trading during the designated trade period in January, each
entrant must provide a username and password with the entry and a telephone number
for confirmation
3) Employees or direct family members of employees of the Wheat Kings and Brandon
Sun are not eligible to win prizes in this contest
Fans can enter in one of the following ways....
1) online via wheatkings.com
2) purchasing a copy of the Brandon Sun, filling out the draft form and mailing it
to 501 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, R7A OK4
3) dropping off a completed draft entry form to The Brandon Sun
On the ice, the Wheat Kings will be putting a 3-game season opening win streak on the line Saturday night against Redenbach and the visiting Swift Current Broncos at the Keystone Centre. Excluding last year's playoffs, the Wheat Kings have won nine straight regular season games under general manager / coach Kelly McCrimmon.
Tickets to Saturday's game, which is another Sport Chek Family Night, are on sale now at the Keystone box office, by calling 726-3555 or on line at ticketmaster.ca Sport Chek Family Night packages are available at Shoppers Mall location and at the Wheat Kings' office.
