Fans 'Renew' their Interest in Argos in a Big Way

December 13, 2002 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Toronto Argonauts News Release

Argo fans showed that they were behind the team all the way in 2002, and their support hasn't ended with Toronto's loss to the eventual Grey Cup Champions in the Eastern Final. Just over 50% of the team's season-ticket holder base have already submitted their renewal for 2003, the highest season ticket renewal rate in over a decade, including during the Doug Flutie-led back-to-back Grey Cup Championship years of 1996 and 1997.

The Argos wanted to thank season-ticket holders for their loyalty this past season by offering a 10% discount for early-bird renewals, on top of the special price they already earn as a season subscriber, and the fans have returned the appreciation. In addition to earning the special offer when they renew their tickets, current season ticket holders will also receive a collectable autographed Michael "Pinball" Clemons bobblehead doll for each account.

"We have always said that we are much stronger as a team with the support of our 13th man, our fans," said Toronto Argonauts owner Sherwood Schwarz. "The trend in sports is to increase ticket prices at renewal time, but to show our appreciation for their loyalty, we wanted to give our season ticket holders this special offer. We look forward to building on the team's success in 2003, and to having our fans there with us as we work to bring Toronto another Grey Cup Championship.

Ticket holders are able to call (416) 545-1777 by the new deadline of Thursday, December 19 to renew their tickets, which was extended to accommodate callers.

The Toronto Argonauts, one of the most historic sports franchises in North America, celebrate their 130th anniversary in 2003 with 14 Grey Cup championships to their credit, the most in Canadian Football League history.
