Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed running back Ranier Rackley to their 2017 roster, Head Coach Dixie Wooten announced today.
Rackley (6-0, 215, Elizabeth City State) returns to the Iowa Barnstormers for his second season with the team. Collegiately, Rackley played at Elizabeth City State University before joining the Indoor Football League (IFL). In 2014, Rackley signed with the Nebraska Danger where he played in 6 games. Rackley first joined the Barnstormers organization in 2015, he saw action in one game before suffering a season-ending injury.
Injury did not stop Rackley from being a valuable member of the Barnstormers roster. As a captain, Rackley was at every practice supporting his teammates. Off the field, Rackley spent much of his time giving back to the Des Moines community and representing the Barnstormers at several community events. He served as an ambassador for the Iowa Barnstormers 'We've Got Your Back' Anti-Bullying Program, where he visited many schools and youth groups to encourage students to stand up, speak out, and stick together against bullying. Rackley's involvement in the community quickly made him a favorite amongst the Barnstormers fan base.
"Signing Ranier is huge because he was a fan favorite. When the fans speak, as a coach, I listen and Ranier's name came up a million times," said Coach Wooten. "He's a good running back and having Ranier is like having the best of both worlds, a guy who's a community person and also a great teammate."
Rackley looks forward to returning to Des Moines for the 2017 season. He is excited to get back into the community and take care of some unfinished business on the field.
"I'm excited to see what the future holds for this organization. This team and the fans deserve a championship and being part of this organization again means so much to me," said Rackley. "I know what Coach Wooten brings to the table and to have his caliber of a coach is a great tone setter for the upcoming season. The mindset going into this season for me is unfinished business. I'm thankful for the opportunity and excited to see what's next."
Season Tickets are on sale for the Iowa Barnstormers 2017 season starting as low as $80 per seat. Don't miss a minute of the action this season! For more information, call the Barnstormers at (515) 633-2255 or log on to www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
