
Falu Ambles off to Texas League

Burlington, IA (August 25, 2005) The Kansas City Royals have promoted Burlington Bees IF Irving Falu to the Wichita Wranglers, the organization's Double-A affiliate in the Texas League. Falu is the third player to make the jump to Wichita this season, although the first two were temporary. C Jorge Maduro went up on April 22nd and returned on the 28th. RHP Patrick Hicklen went up to make one start on July 26th.
Falu leaves the team batting .246 with a home run and 28 RBI. He leads the team with 31 stolen bases, 63 runs scored, and 59 walks while striking out just 35 times. His season was highlighted by a 24-game hitting streak that spanned from June 7th through July 6th. It is the longest hitting streak in the Midwest League this season and the longest known streak in franchise history. Falu also reached base safely in 34 consecutive games from June 4th "" July 14th, also the longest in the MWL this season. Falu also sparked the team with two game-winning hits in the bottom of the ninth inning in four days, singling to beat Dayton on May 28th and again on May 31st to top Beloit.
Falu will not be immediately replaced on the Bees roster, leaving the team with just 22 active players and eleven active position players.
The Bees open their final home stand of the season tonight at Community Field with the first of four games against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. LH Danny Christensen (3-6, 3.64) will start for the Bees against RH Fernando Rodriguez (6-9, 4.34) for the Kernels. The gates will open at 6:00 for a Fat Tuesdays Thirsty Thursday featuring 2-for-$3 specials on bottles of Pepsi products and cans of beer throughout the game. Tomorrow will be the final Friday Fest at Community Field this year. The gates will open at 4:30 with a performance by the band Dry.
