Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. â Players vying to make the 2003-04 edition of the Fresno Falcons reported for training camp tonight and, after taking medical physicals tomorrow morning at Sierra Pacific Orthopaedic Center, will participate in their first on-ice session tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Gateway Ice Center.
Two goaltenders, five defensemen, and 14 forwards are among those that will skate tomorrow, including 10 that are already signed to contracts for the upcoming season. A complete list of the players that have reported to camp is attached. Several more players will join the club in its pre-season preparations over the next few days, including those that are currently taking part in American Hockey League training camps.
The Falcons conclude the first week of training camp with a home-and-home set of exhibition games against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Fresno hosts Long Beach on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. at Gateway Ice Center before traveling to the Ice Dogs' practice facility, Glacial Gardens in Lakewood, CA, for game two on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
Admission to Friday's tilt at Gateway Ice Center costs $2 for current 2003-04 Falcons season ticket holders and $5 for the general public. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 6 p.m. Following the game, Gateway will remain open for a public skating session from approximately 10:15 p.m. until 12:15 a.m. The $6 flat rate cost for the public skating session includes skate rental.
Head coach and general manager Blaine Moore must submit the Falcons' opening day roster to the ECHL by Oct. 15 in advance of the team's season opener on Oct. 17 in Bakersfield against the Condors. The Falcons play their inaugural home opener in the Save Mart Center at Fresno State on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. also against the Condors following an 11-game road trip to open the 2003-04 campaign.
Season tickets to see the Falcons play at the Save Mart Center in 2003-2004 are now on sale with mini-packs beginning as low as $48. Call the Falcons at 485-PUCK (7825) or visit www.fresnofalcons.com for more information.
