Falcons Sign Talented Defenseman
August 25, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have signed rookie defenseman Dustin VanBallegooie to a contract for the upcoming 2004-05 season.
Last season VanBallegooie helped lead the Toronto St. Michael's Majors to the Ontario Hockey League's Eastern Conference Finals and was the team's nominee for OHL Defenseman of the Year.
"Dustin comes highly recommended from his coach last year, Dave Cameron, who coaches Canada's Under-18 National Team and is very well respected in the OHL," said Falcons General Manager Blaine Moore. "Everyone feels Dustin has an enormous amount of upside. He skates well, is very good defensively and is a fantastic individual."
VanBallegooie is the 10th player signed by the Falcons, joining Mike Betz, John Dahl, Thierry Douville, Jordan Landry, Brian Passmore, Jack Redlick, Wes Rypien, Kevin Truelson and John Wroblewski.
Fresno will battle the Bakersfield Condors in a home-and-home pre-season series on Oct. 15 and 16 before opening the 2004-05 ECHL regular season on Oct. 22 against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Save Mart Center.
Full season ticket packages and Flex Packs are on sale beginning as low as $42. For complete ticket information, please visit the Falcons website at www.fresnofalcons.com/tickets.html or call the Falcons front office.
